The Cold (and Rain) Never Bothered Us Anyway!

Team Alpha braved the elements last Saturday for the Form Follows Fitness 5K, benefiting the Dallas Center for Architecture! Even with the less than ideal conditions, it was a great event, with a course that took us past some of the best architecture in Dallas. Thanks to everyone who came by our booth (manned by Jacob Wadlington), and congrats to Junior Hernandez, Hannah McAdams, Allison Merecka, and Marianne Stanton for battling through the rain to get those awesome medals! Want to see more pics from the race? Check out Can’t wait to do it again next year!

10,000 and Counting!

Ever wonder how handwritten field reports turn into typed masterpieces? Behind the scenes, Alpha’s typists convert those reports to legible, typed documents for project managers to review. In record-setting fashion, Alpha’s Tiana Blackmon typed her 10,000th report in January, completing the feat in less than 8 months! That’s about 60-70 reports a day!

Tiana joined Alpha in May 2017, and has a Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Natural Resources Science from Tarleton State University. She hopes to use her degree to pursue research and community research opportunities.

If typing was an Olympic sport, Tiana would definitely bring home the gold! We’re glad to have her on our team!

A Meeting with a Treat!

What’s better than getting out of the office for a few hours for a meeting? Getting free Frosters when you get there! Alpha’s Philip Johnson, Adam Heiman, and Courtney Ball recently visited Circle K at their San Antonio office and were greeted by a built in (complimentary) convenience store! This has us all asking, what’s your favorite Froster flavor?

Alpha Fort Worth: We Challenge You!

Members of our Dallas construction materials testing team met up at GatSplat in Lewisville at the end of December for some paintball fun! Fifteen technicians, along with several Project Managers, took team building to a new level – by trying to crush the competition.

“Everyone had fun,” said Alpha Project Manager Danny Jauregui. “We had the opportunity to socialize outside of the work setting which was pretty cool.

“We challenge Alpha-Fort Worth to a paintball battle in the next few months!”

Your move Fort Worth — are you up for it?

The End of an Era!

After 34 years —- Alpha Testing Principal David “Pat” Stettner has officially entered the world of retirement! Alpha celebrated Pat and his wife Rena with a luncheon at our Dallas office last week.

Pat was one of the first employees hired by Alpha’s founder, Jim Hillhouse, joining Alpha on November 7, 1983 when the company was only eight months old. He wore every hat imaginable in his 34 years with Alpha, including project management, IT, accounting, and sales, just to name a few. He also was responsible for opening our San Antonio and Houston offices.

“The last 34 years have been the best 34 years of my life. I have totally enjoyed my work and the people I have had the pleasure of working with at Alpha Testing, Inc. I would not have been able to accomplish what we accomplished without the support I received from you all.” Pat Stettner, Principal

“No single person at Alpha has been more in tune with making sure a client was served properly than Pat Stettner,” said Jeff Wilt, Executive Principal.  “It has been a great pleasure to work alongside Pat for the last 11 years.”

Congratulations, Pat! Time to enjoy the good life!”
