The Family Place has been serving Dallas area victims of family violence since 1978. In order to accommodate growing needs, the agency created a $16.5 Million Legacy Campaign for an additional facility in Dallas, TX. Ann Moody Place broke ground in May 2016 and will provide domestic violence victims additional shelter and programs. The 40,000 SF facility will house 13 emergency shelter bedrooms, medical/dental clinic, hotline/call center, and numerous spaces for counseling and job training. Alpha is proud to be a part of this Legacy Campaign, working alongside Corgan and Hill & Wilkinson to provide geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the new facility.
This Alpha Testing project is all about caffeine and all day breakfast. Alpha is providing services to Scooter’s Coffee for their new location in The Colony, “scooting” their North Texas presence up to six locations. The new coffee kiosk will sit on the corner of Main Street and S Colony Blvd and will host the same menu of specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, pastries, and breakfast. Did we mention that the breakfast is served ALL DAY!? The Caramelicious is a customer favorite and Scooter’s can serve up any coffee drink hot, cold, or blended – a great option to have in our fluctuating Texas weather!
When a drill rig is scheduled to take borings at your school, why not turn it into a teaching opportunity for students? Grapevine-Colleyville ISD invited Alpha Testing’s Mahsa Hedayati, PhD, PE to speak to 5th graders at Cannon Elementary about the current geotechnical drilling in the school’s backyard. With a hard hat on and a drill rig behind her, Mahsa got to “show and tell” regarding the drilling operation of an actual geotechnical project for school district. Before actual operations began, the students learned all about the process and equipment and got the chance to ask Mahsa questions. Future engineers? Who knows, but next time they see a drill rig, THEY will be answering the questions!
Here’s a little inspiration for your New Year’s Resolution. On Dec 12, 2015, Alpha’s Diana Rohrback made the courageous decision to make a lifestyle change to improve her health and lessen the symptoms of Type II Diabetes. She enrolled in a weight loss program, changed her diet, and incorporated exercise into her routine. To date, Diana has lost an astounding 66.5 pounds (and counting)! What’s her secret? She says that the key to success is setting a goal, creating a tangible for you to reach. Congratulations Diana! Your story is an inspiration.
