Hungry, Hungry Hippos!

With college football season just around the corner, we know that traffic heading north on I-35 is about to get even crazier than usual. If you need to grab a bite on your way to Norman or Stillwater, we suggest a stop at a legendary Gainesville spot. The Hungry Hippo Sub Shop is located just east of I-35, about an hour north of Dallas/Fort Worth. Voted “Cooke County’s Best Sub Shop,” they’ve been serving Gainesville’s best sandwiches since 1979. Thanks to Alpha’s Chris Pape for sending this photo from his recent visit!

The Core Coffee House

A motorcycle trip in May – what could
go wrong? The CoreWho knew that on May 10th, 2019 – it would be cold (well, 51 degrees) and damp (well, actually pouring rain) in the Kerrville area.  Jeff Wilt found himself in serious need of caffeine, warmth, and a dry seat in Medina, TX.

Thank heaven he found The Core Coffee House on Hwy 16, featuring Espresso, Pizza and Prayer.  One addition, a wonderful small dog that had a 6 foot vertical – and proved it when encouraged.    Great people and a warm cuppa to cover all needs.

Phone BoothAcross the street – an item from another place and time.
